Product Description The DPX Hybrid series feature Class G/H technology to deliver maximum power whenever you need it. By regulating the power supply voltage according to the input signal, this allows for the efficiency of a Class D amplifier with the sound quality of an A/B design. Top of the line features include, integrated electronic crossovers, speaker level inputs, and gold plated RCA connectors. For amplifiers that bring the studio to the road, Clarion is your source.Allowing for a smooth music transition, Clarion's high-pass and low-pass filters ensure that the frequencies reaching your speakers match their output potential. This means tweeters in a two-way setup get only the high-range frequencies, and subwoofers get the low-frequency ranges. There's only one way for Clarion's source units to deliver unyielding power output and linearity - MOS-FET amplification, or Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor amplification. Smaller and more efficient than conventional power supplies, a MOS-FET amplification circuit delivers power with less distortion and zero on/off switching noise. This means you can crank up the volume or set it to easy listening. Either way, your sound will be crystal clear.

Another Excellent Clarion Amplifier. June 7, 2009 CorpsePenis (North NJ USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great powerful amp. Sound is excellent and transparent. Very powerful. Very well made amplifier. These are the Robert Zeff/Nikola Engineering designed. Lots of great high-end features. Very precise crossover. Puts out more power than advertised. Also, very efficient power. I upgraded to this amp from an older Clarion, which I was also very pleased with. You can use this to drive a set of high power components a sub woofer, or a set of mid-basses for a 3-way. Excellent fan cooling/unique heat sink design. Clarion logo able to be rotated to suit your install. All gold plated connections w/ philips head screws makes it easy to make adjustments. All potentiometers feel very solid. High and Low level input. Highly recommended amplifier by Clarion!
Pleased with this amp July 19, 2009 tela (UT, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My first Clarion product and I've only had it a few weeks but I am impressed so far. When I was initially doing research on a sub amp this one specs kept impressing me. For the price you have a high signal to noise ratio, low THD, great options to customize the sound to your taste, a fantastic looking box, etc.
The closest competitor for me was an Alpine MRP-M500 and I do like Alpine products but this beats it hands down on paper, cosmetically, and in person.
Not only was this amp cheaper but it has 11db higher snr, 10 times better THD, an extra 125 watts x1 RMS, Class GH instead of D, and double the warranty.
The manual I was not impressed with though, it shows instructions for several amps which was annoying because they are all different in features. Also, maybe they've changed the layout on this amp and didn't update the manual but the instructions don't include accurate descriptions of some features.
The instructions do say to mount this amp so that airflow goes lengthwise. So I mounted it vertically to allow the heat to escape through the top and cooler air to enter from below, but with a small fan added this amp could probably be mounted in any fashion, especially since the circuit board is in the middle of the amp and the main vents below it.
The face of this amplifier is all-aluminum which is a great heat dissipator and is great to look at too.
I've had no trouble with overheating even in 100 degree weather. I was able to rotate my logo for my vertical installation also.
Of course the quality of sound depends on the speaker but I have zero complaints in this area. My sub actually has a lower RMS rating this amp puts out at 4 ohms, but a simple adjustment on the unit and I don't have to worry about overdriving plus I have room for upgrades later. I bridged the amp to a single sub.
This is a Class GH amp which is the perfect combination of high efficiency and high sound quality. These aren't that common, at least at this price.
I get a nice warm, tight bass with great low pass slope (only 12db/octave), and with the adjustable frequency I can dial precisely what frequencies I want my sub to handle.
I'm very pleased with this amp and the only thing I would improve would be the manual.
